Senior Materials Handler  

Perform necessary tasks in Myerstown site's warehouse operations to coordinate movement of high-quality materials and products on time and in the right quantities; Transport material between Myerstown, PA buildings and off-site locations. 

  

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

   

  • Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety and ergonomic rules, including any special personal protective equipment (PPE) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) applying to a particular process or area.   

  • Maintain clean and orderly work area and participate in safety improvement projects. 

  • Transport materials between buildings and off-site locations. 

  • Maintain accuracy of the Drop Trailer Log and related resources; maintain appropriate handling of all inbound and outbound paperwork. 

  • Appropriately communicate with the distribution centers and transportation companies. 

  • Responsible for fleet maintenance. 

  • Perform full range of duties associated with operations in 3 on-site warehouses such as: 

  • Meeting production demands and maintain production priorities by following site wide production schedule 

  • Effectively read & follow schedule, including communicating with supervision on material concerns. 

  • Forklift operation, stand-up and sit-down units, including operation of required attachments such as the pullpack, clamp, drum clamp and inverter. 

  • Operation of warehouse equipment including racking (high density, fixed, flow), battery charging units, wrapping machines, dock plates and scales. 

  • Perform receiving, storing, & shipping tasks by following SOPs, including but not limited to inspecting materials for damage, ensuring correct counts, & ensuring materials are clean by Current Good Manufacturing Standards (cGMPs).  For example, physically matching documentation to materials received, verifying materials to shipping orders to ensure accuracy, following cGMPs to ensure material cleanliness, preparing shipping orders and scrap orders, etc. 

  • Accurately complete, maintain, and update documentation (electronic and paper) when performing material movement tasks. 

  • Picking orders of various raw and packaging materials to supply to the production departments  

  • Review and verify team members' paperwork as needed. 

  • Other miscellaneous tasks to include, but not limited to 

  • Material transfers by operating company vehicles on site, including mailruns and deliveries of Maintenance Repair and Operational Items (MROs) to proper locations, as well as operate the Box Truck for interplant, local, and long distant trips. 

  • Providing support to the QA Department (Sample Rooms and retesting) 

  • Pulling materials for Write Offs 

  • Loading landfill and recycling trailers 

  • Ensuring appropriate handling, storage and response to Hazardous and sensitive materials. 

  • Completion of all required electronic and paper documentation associated with each task, including the attachment of pictures when requiredThis includes the completion of required safety observations, quality observations, training, process improvements, work orders and attending scheduled departmental meetings. 

  • Submit work orders as needed i.e. to keep equipment running or repair racks. 

  • Coordinate work with external contractors and vendors as directed by supervision 

  • Help build team-oriented culture & continuous process improvements by motivating and supporting team members, being faithful to the team process by sharing knowledge with all members of the department, and take ownership of training and learning for self-development and team training (i.e. training team members, motivating and supporting team members, sharing knowledge to continuously improve the process, self-initiating the development of technical skills, etc.). 

  • Utilize automated inventory system (i.e., SAP, MES) to conduct the following transactions, as needed: 

  • Material movement and storage 

  • Scrap transactions 

  • Reconciliation 

  • SAP inventory cleanup 

  • Cycle Counting 

  • Empty Bin Reports 

  • May perform other duties as assigned. 

 

 

WHO YOU ARE 

  

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: 

  

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED required. 

  • Demonstrated ability to read/interpret/follow instructions in regard to workplace documentation, such as SOP’s, Work Instructions, etc. 

  • Microsoft software experience (Outlook) 

  • Experience using motorized & non-motorized material handling equipment. 

  • Ability to operate a forklift truck; forktruck certification and experience. 

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack  

  • Ability to work safely in a production environment. 

  • Demonstrate a good mathematical aptitude in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & metric system. 

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license; Commercial Driver license with experience in over-the-road driving and yard movement required. 

  • Must be willing to work overtime as required, based on production/warehouse demands. 

  • Must be willing to work 3rd shift (11:30 AM – 7:10 AM) 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Lotus Notes experience 

  • CDL License  

  • Experience in a government regulated, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or standard operating procedures (SOP) environment 

  • Experience in warehouse & material handling 

  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement  

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of $23.43. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
